2018 Virginia District XI Mixed Honor Choir:
Hi Dr. Bowen - We just wanted to send you a quick note of appreciation. I had the privilege of being in the audience during the district rehearsals this weekend. I was a mom-chaperone... and I was truly blown away by the talented and impressive way by which you taught those students. Not only were you reaching the students, but you were teaching the entire auditorium. I have never seen a director captivate and mesmerize a group of teenagers in such a creative way. Even if he doesn't realize it now, my son … learned a lot from you in a very short time. Our family has a long history and love of the arts, I was a music major and band geek myself, and it's an incredible blessing for Carter to have such a rewarding experience with a director like you. Thank you for leading the charge for women in music and the arts and educating our youth in the importance of its history! Big fans, The Schaeffer Family

“Meredith Bowen, recently nominated for the prestigious American Prize for Conducting in the choral division, conducted Lineage for the Prairie chorus. Working with her was a particular pleasure for many WiH singers. Second soprano Julie Rothrock said that “[Bowen] did wonders with her breathing, facial expressions, and presence in conveying what she wanted from us.””
I’ve played a lot of Messiahs, all of them with more rehearsal time than what was given you for yesterday’s performance. And yet you still managed to show us what phrasing you wanted, follow whatever our lovely soloists did musically, and make it the best Messiah rendition I’ve played in…. I sure hope I get the chance to work with you again. - Messiah violist
